Every year my sisters and I exchange “October 21st” gifts – a little something to celebrate the birthday of our mom and all she meant to us. It’s just something we do to keep her spirit alive even though she is no longer with us. Our mom was a crafty sort and she loved to sew. She had an incredible talent for sewing – she could look at a dress in the store, go home and recreate it, making it even better than the original. I know my sisters and I get our love of crafting from our mom.

While mom was a genius with needle and thread (and made sure all her girls knew how to sew), over the years I’ve fallen in love with card making and paper crafting. So for the past few years, I’ve turned to paper crafting to create my October 21st gifts for my sisters (and yes I know it’s closer to December 21st then October 21st – but hey it’s been a different year). For the past two years I’ve created a monthly calendar as my gift with a different design for each month. My sisters loved it (at least they said they did) so this year I upped the game and added a fancy little book box to store the inserts in when they are not in use.

This box goes together fairly quickly and will absolutely wow and amaze anyone you give it to. Just by changing out the Designer Series Paper you can make this box for any occasion. Check out my YouTube Video for the tutorial and measurements.
