As October begins to wind down our thoughts turn to Halloween, Thanksgiving, and beyond. The next few weeks are often the busiest of the year, with lots of things on our “to do” lists. With the new Joy of Sharing All Inclusive Card Kit from Stampin’ Up! you can take making holiday cards off your list. The kit contains everything you need to make 15 beautiful cards, which can include a photo if you so desire! The kit comes with literally everything you need to make the cards – card bases, envelopes, adhesive, stamp set, ink, clear block, embellishments, and a storage box. Just look at all you get in the kit.
I love this time of year. The trees start turning brilliant shade of red, yellow, and orange. The air is crisp and things just seem to slow down a bit. I love it when I can snuggle under a quilt with a good book and some cocoa and just laze the day away. Ah Fall – probably my favorite season. I love all things fall and I especially love creating beautiful fall themed cards. One of my favorite sets to create with the the Gather Together bundle from Stampin’ Up! I first fell in love with this set last fall and I was so happy to see my old friend return this year.
The stamp set and dies are beautiful in their simplicity. Just a few heart felt sentiments and beautiful leaves, pumpkins, and wheat complete the stamp set. With dies to match the stamped images as well as some accent dies, it’s easy to create beautiful, one of a kind greeting cards to send to family and friends this time of year.
I’m featuring this set as my October Product of the Month. Place an order on my website of $25 or more and I’ll send you a FREE kit with all the cardstock and envelopes needed, as well as a tutorial, create four beautiful cards (stamp set and dies not included, open to US residents only). The other day I was texting with a good friend I haven’t seen in a while because, you know – COVID-19. Anyway we were catching up and I asked if she needed to replenish her stash of note cards because I literally have hundreds since I haven’t done any craft fairs this year, because you know – COVID-19.
She sent me a picture of what she was working on – creating cards with Stampin’ Up!’s Lots of Happy Kit which has beautiful floral images. In the course of the conversation she mentioned her son said she needed more masculine cards. I don’t know about you but I struggle trying to come up with cards suitable for guys. So I took the comment to heart and challenged myself to try and create some masculine birthday cards.
Turing to my stash of Stampin’ Up! stamps I selected the beautiful and versatile Mountain Air Bundle. As soon as I saw this set in the catalog I knew I had to have it. I’ve always loved mountains and will pick them over a beach vacation every time.
I love that the stamps are reversible, with a detailed side as well as a flat, smooth side giving you so many options for creating beautiful scenes. I featured this set during my weekly Facebook Live and now have the tutorial uploaded to my YouTube Channel. You can watch the video here. Here are the cards I created. I sent the photos to my friend and her son gave them his stamp of approval as birthday cards suitable for guys.
The Rich Razzleberry card on the left was a CASE from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. The card base is 8.5″ x 5.5″ scored at 4.35″. The images are stamped on a 4″ x 5.25″ of Rich Razzleberry in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I masked the small trees and stamped the moon in Versamark and heat embossed with White Embossing powder. I sponged Night of Navy and Rich Razzleberry to give it more of a twilight/night feel. A Crumb Cake banner .75″ x 2.25″ with the Happy Birthday stamped in Rich Razzleberry and two trees die cut in Basic Black complete the card.
The Pool Party card on the right has a card base of 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″. The images are stamped on a 4″ x 5.25″ of Whisper White. The techniques used include second generation stamping, and stamping off. For the mountains, I inked the stamp with Soft Suede and stamped the image twice without re-inking. For the solid clouds, after inking the stamp on the flat (smooth) side, I first stamped the image on a piece of scrap paper and then stamped it on the Whisper White, creating a softer image. I then reversed the stamp and stamped the lined cloud image with full strength Pool Party Ink. You can watch my YouTube Video for complete details on how to make these cards. Every once in a while, I find a stamp set that just speaks to me from the first time I see it! In the August to December Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up! the set that won my heart from the start is the wonderfully playful Christmas Means More stamp set. Don’t be fooled by its obvious simplicity – the set contains four sentiments that are iconic lines from classic holiday movies. As soon as I saw the set I was transported back to my childhood and the fun times baking Christmas cookies with my mom while we watched these classic movies.
The quotes are from some of my favorite movies and every time I use them I just can’t help smiling (or singing or reeling off other lines from the movies). Let’s see if you can name the movies from these classic lines: “Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more” or “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”. How about “Every time a bell rings and angel gets its wings” or the simple “I believe – it’s silly, but I believe.”
Subscribing to the idea of simplicity is the essence of good design, it’s so easy to create beautiful cards with this set. Check out these two I demonstrated for my Facebook Live and posted to my YouTube channel (thanks for subscribing).
Both cards were so simple to make and are great for beginning stampers. The card bases are 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″, with on card having a portrait orientation and the other having a landscape orientation. Both feature the beautiful Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (DSP). For the Pear Pizzazz card, cut your DSP to 3″ x 4″ and your Mossy Meadow layer to 3.5″ x 4.5″ You can add some bling with the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels and use the Real Red double stitched satin ribbon to tie a pretty bow around it. Stamp your sentiment on Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink and die cut with the layering circles. Attach to card front using stampin dimensionals. For the Mossy Meadow card, cut your DSP to 3″ x 1″ and layer it over a Real Real cut to 3.75″ x 3.5″. Add a stitched rectangle with the sentiment stamped in Mossy Meadow ink to complete the card. You can check out my YouTube video tutorial here.
Whenever I get a new Stampin’ Up! catalog it always takes me several passes until I really notice everything in it. The new Lovely You bundle was one of those hidden gems that I didn’t really focus on the first few times through. When I finally did pay attention to it I knew it was one I had to add to my collection. With sweet sentiments and eye-catching floral images the Lovely You bundle makes creating a breeze.
Playing with the stamp set for the first time last week, I created a #simplestamping card with just stamps, paper, and a selection of inks. To create this card, I used Thick Whisper White card stock (8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″) and the Classic Stampin Pads from the Subtles collection – Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz, and Highland Heather. The labels were made using the Lovely You Pick a Punch with Petal Pink (1″ x 4″) and Whisper White (3/4″ x 3.5″).
After creating a simple stamping card, I wanted to step it up a bit so my next card added lots of layers, a few die cuts, some Rhinestone Jewels, and I used the markering technique to color and stamp my floral image. To create this card I used a base of Cherry Cobbler card stock (8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″), then I added a layer of Whisper White card stock (5.25″ x 4″) and a layer of Plaid Tiding Designer Series Paper (5″ x 3.75″). A 1″ x 5″ strip of Mossy Meadow added a pop of color to the card front. I used the two largest squares from the Stitched Shapes Dies to create my diamond layers in Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. I colored my image with Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Stampin Write Markers and stamped it on the Whisper White die cute. Again the Lovely Label Pick a Punch was used on a 3/4″ of Whisper White to create the label. Check you my full YouTube tutorial here. Click here to order all the products used for these projects.
