Today was a kind of crazy day for me. I signed up for a booth at the Lucketts Community Center Fair. I love these events as I get to meet lots of fun and interesting people from my community and I get to spend time with a fantastic group of women who all have their own businesses -either as independent consultants for a direct sales company or as entrepreneurs of a cottage based business. I love this group of women. We laugh, we joke, we have fun, and we support each other. It’s a wonderful group and I am blessed to be included in it.
Today was hard also because I had to attend a memorial mass for a dear friend who passed very unexpectedly. Dave had a larger than life personality and would literally give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family fiercely, was a devoted civil servant, and a loyal friend. I still can’t believe he is gone. It’s like a light has gone out and left the world – my world – a little darker.
Today, the friendship of one group of wonderful women helped me say goodbye to a dear friend. My son agreed to come sit at my booth for a few hours so I could attend the memorial mass. He was hesitant to do this as he didn’t know what to expect and how to handle questions that might have come up. Neither he nor I needed to worry. My wonderful group of friends were there to help my son and gave me piece of mind while I was celebrating the life of my dear friend Dave.
It isn’t often we experience such complete and unquestioning support. These amazing women were just there to help in a time of need. I can never repay them for their kindness but I know I will be there for anyone of them when needed.
