Two-Tone & 3 Easy Techniques for Stunning and Beautiful Cards

🌿 Card 1: Crumple It for Subtle Texture

Technique: Crinkling your cardstock adds an unexpected texture that’s full of handmade charm.

Details:

• Card base: Secret Sea 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm)
• Basic White insert: 5-1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm)
• Painterly Pears DSP: 5-1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm)
• Sentiment: “Congratulations” stamped in Secret Sea on a scrap of Basic White
• Label die cut and popped up with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
• Ribbon: Mossy Meadow & Gold (green side showing)
• Accent: Darling Duckling Two-Tone Cardstock, crumpled and layered flat
• Finishing Touch: Low-profile sparkle dots in Secret Sea

Why it works: The crumpled cardstock makes a soft backdrop for your sentiment while still letting that Painterly Pears DSP shine.

🌿 Card 2: Emboss & Sand to Reveal the White Core

Technique: Emboss your Two-Tone Cardstock, then lightly sand it to reveal the subtle white core beneath.

Details:

• Card base: Old Olive 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm) & 1 piece at 3-3/4″ x 3-1/4″ (9.5 cm x 6 cm)
• Basic White insert: 5-1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 xm)
• Very Vanilla scrap for 2-3/8″ (6 cm) circle punch
• Painterly Pears DSP 3-1/2″ x 2″ (9 cm x 5.5 cm)
• Secret Sea Two-Tone layer: 5-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ (14.8 cm x 4 cm)
• Embossed with the Damask embossing folder
• Sanded with a nail file to expose the white core
• Layered on Darling Duckling mat: 5-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ (14.8 cm x 4.5 cm)
• Focal image: Stamped pears in Secret Sea, Old Olive, Darling Duckling, and a soft touch of Petal Pink using a blender pen and sponge dauber
• Accents: Gold side of the ribbon and yellow sparkle dots

Why it works: Sanding adds visual texture without bulk, and the tone-on-tone layers bring elegant contrast.

🌿 Card 3: Tear for Organic Layers

Technique: Tear the Two-Tone Cardstock toward you to expose the white core and layer the strips for a handmade, earthy look.

Details:

• Card base: Secret Sea 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm)
• Layer 1: Darling Duckling: 5-1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm)
• Layer 2: Painterly Pears DSP: 5″ x 3-3/4″ (13.8 cm x 9.5 cm)
• Three strips torn from of a 4″ x 4″ (10 cm x10 cm) piece of Old Olive Two-Tone Cardstock (light and dark sides shown)
• Pears stamped in Old Olive, Secret Sea, Darling Duckling, and Petal Pink
• Sentiment: “Thank You” stamped directly onto the green cardstock
• Accents: Die-cut flowers in Petal Pink backed with adhesive sheets for easy placement

Why it works: This layout showcases the playful side of layering while giving you complete freedom to customize your color palette.
