Need a last minute gift this holiday season?

Now that Halloween is behind us, the rest of the year will speed by. Shopping for the holiday begins in earnest this month (if you haven’t already started) as we head into gift giving season. And if you’re a crafter with shows lined up for every weekend between now and December 25th you’re always looking for quick and easy ideas to have on hand.

Last month I attended a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator only event hosted by three demostrators in Gaitlinburg, Tennessee. It was a fantastic time and they spoiled us silly with lots of gifts. One of the gifts was a paper bone nested in a pretty Designer Series Paper wrap. Now if you’re like me not only do you look at the gift as a thoughtful gesture but you are also thinking how you can use the idea to create something!

Well this little bone folder wrap gave me all kinds of ideas, one being as a wrap for some large nail files I has purchased at the end of last year from my Thirty-One Consultant. I grabbed 10 packs of three nail files for $1 each – not knowing how I would use them but knowing the deal was too good to pass up!

Deconstruction before Creation

Of course I had to take apart the wrapper to figure out how it was made. As suspected, it was made from one 6″ x 6″ piece of Designer Series Paper with a few score and fold lines. Perfect! Now I could adapt it to use for my nail files. Here’s a picture of my creation.

Holiday gift Idea

My plan was to do my YouTube video for my Tuesday Lesson@Lunch series. Unfortunatley, life got in the way so I didn’t get to make and post the video until Thursday night. But better late then never I guess right? To see how easy this is to make you can head over to my Crafty Klock YouTube Channel and watch the video. All is need is some paper, liquid glue, embellishments and of course something to put in the wrap!

Measurements and Supplies

So there really isn’t much to this project. All you need is one 6″ x 6″ piece of Designer Series Paper scored at 1 1/2″; 3″; and 4 1/2″. The rest is just folding and gluing as shown in the video. I used A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper, Gold and Vanilla Satin Edged Ribbon, Basic White with either a 1 3/4″ circle punch or die, multipurpose liquid glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals, and Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin’ Pad. As with any project you can add more embellishments or change any elements to your liking.
