3D Projects with DSP
Have you ever looked at a beautiful pack of Designer Series Paper and thought, “It’s almost too pretty to cut?” If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been guilty of saving your favorite patterns for “something special.”
The good news? Those gorgeous papers deserve to be seen—and they don’t have to be limited to cards.
In this week’s video, I’m sharing two quick and easy 3D projects that let your Designer Series Paper take center stage. Both 3D projects come together in just a few minutes, require very few supplies, and are easy enough for crafters of all skill levels.
Project #1: Designer Series Paper Gift Bag (or Envelope)
The first project starts with a single 12″ x 12″ sheet of Designer Series Paper and uses nothing more than a series of folds to create a clever gift bag that can also be used as an envelope.
Leave it flat and tuck a gift card, cash, or note inside. Pop it open and it becomes a roomy little gift bag that’s perfect for jewelry, candy, small gifts, or other special treats. Since there’s no adhesive required, it’s also a wonderful project to make with kids or at a group crafting event.
One of my favorite things about this project is how versatile it is. Simply change the paper and you’ve got packaging for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, Christmas, anniversaries, thank-you gifts, or just because.

Project #2: Folded Paper Ornaments
The second project is a folded paper ornament that’s just as fun as it is beautiful.
These ornaments make wonderful Christmas decorations, but don’t stop there. They also make adorable gift toppers, party decorations, keepsakes, or seasonal home décor. Since you’re choosing the Designer Series Paper, the possibilities are almost endless.
Imagine making one with baby-themed paper to celebrate a baby’s first Christmas, elegant florals for a wedding favor, or bright birthday prints to decorate a special gift. It’s amazing how changing the paper completely transforms the finished project.
This is another project that’s perfect for crafting with children or making several at once for gifts and holiday decorating.
Use the Paper You Love
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that Designer Series Paper is “just for cards.” Nothing could be further from the truth.
Designer Series Paper can be used to create gift packaging, home décor, scrapbook pages, tags, treat holders, ornaments, and so much more. Sometimes all it takes is looking at your supplies a little differently.
That’s exactly what this week’s projects are all about—thinking outside the card and finding new ways to enjoy the beautiful papers already sitting in your craft room.
