It’s Not You! Decision Fatigue Is The Real Culprit

Decision Fatigue is REAL

If there is one thing I hear over and over from card makers — beginners and experienced crafters alike — it is this:

“I have the supplies… but I don’t know what goes together.”

Honestly, that is a very real pain point. Not because people lack creativity and not because they are doing anything wrong. It is because crafting today comes with an overwhelming number of choices.

Pick a stamp set. Pick designer paper. Pick ribbon. Pick embellishments. Pick a layout. Pick ink colors. Pick cardstock colors. Pick, pick, pick, pick, pick!

By the time many people finally sit down to craft, they are already mentally exhausted before they even cut the first piece of paper.

That is decision fatigue, and I truly believe it is one of the biggest reasons people stop creating.

I see it all the time. Someone has a craft room full of beautiful supplies, but they feel completely stuck. They spend more time moving products around than actually making cards. They pull out twelve ink pads and still feel unsure about what works together. Meanwhile, the supplies they loved enough to buy sit untouched because they are afraid of “messing it up.”

That is not creativity failing. That is overwhelm winning.

The truth is, most card makers do not need more supplies. They need simpler systems. They need a starting point. They need someone to say, “Try these colors together,” or “Use what you already have,” or “You do not need to reinvent the wheel every single time you sit down to craft.”

Taming the Decision Fatigue Monster

That is exactly why I created the Crafty Color Magic tool.

Not because I think creativity should be robotic, and definitely not because there is only one “right” way to combine colors. In fact, the opposite is true. Sometimes the hardest part of creating is simply getting started. Once you have a direction, your creativity can finally breathe again.

Crafty Color Magic helps remove that first layer of overwhelm by suggesting coordinating Stampin’ Up! color combinations you can actually use with the supplies already sitting in your craft room.

Because let’s be honest… most of us do not need another pack of paper. We need help using the paper we already own.

And if you have ever stood in your craft room thinking, “I know I have beautiful stuff, but I do not know what to do with it,” you are absolutely not alone.

One of the biggest myths in crafting is that experienced card makers magically know what colors work together all the time. Nope. Even seasoned crafters hit color block. Even experienced creators get overwhelmed by too many choices. Even demonstrators sit there holding cardstock combinations wondering whether they are brilliant or terrible.

Ask me how I know.

Sometimes we simply need a little nudge. A little guidance. A little less pressure to make every project perfect.

Because crafting should feel relaxing and encouraging. It should feel creative. It should not feel like taking a final exam in color theory.

And here is something else I strongly believe: using what you have is a skill.

It takes practice to look at your existing supplies differently instead of constantly chasing the next new thing. But when you start learning how colors work together, suddenly your stash becomes useful again instead of overwhelming.

That forgotten pack of paper becomes usable again. Those ink pads you have not touched in months suddenly make sense together. Even that ribbon you bought three years ago because it was “too pretty to cut” can finally come out of hiding.

Sometimes the issue is not a lack of supplies. It is a lack of direction.

That is why I wanted Crafty Color Magic to feel simple, approachable, and genuinely helpful instead of complicated or intimidating. I wanted it to support creative confidence, not add more pressure.

That is what I want for my Crafty Crew — no-stress crafting, clear guidance, and the confidence to actually use and enjoy the supplies you already own.
