2 Quick Cards with Traditions of Christmas Suite that will make you smile

Traditions of Christmas with a Sassy Twist!

Today’s post is short and sweet, because Stampalooza kicks off today and I’m running full speed prepping for it. (Yes, the car still needs to be packed!) But I couldn’t let the week go by without sharing a couple of fun projects with you.

I’m also in the final stretch to earn the Stampin’ Up! incentive trip, and I’m just 1,651 points away from qualifying before the September 30 deadline. So I’m pulling out all the stops this weekend—and if you’re on my email list, keep an eye out for a special offer hitting your inbox soon.

Now let’s talk about cards. Today, I’ve got two different styles to share with you: a traditional Christmas card using the Traditions of Christmas Suite, and a cheeky winter birthday card using the Not 29 Anymore stamp set. Let’s dive in.

Card 1: Traditional Christmas with a Drapery Fold

This first card is elegant but easy, and it features a drapery fold technique that gives it beautiful texture and dimension. I used the Traditions of Christmas Suite from the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog, paired with the Silent Snowfall Specialty DSP and a touch of embossing with the Jolly Holly Hybrid Embossing Folder.

The sentiment, “Sending Love and Joy,” is stamped on a die-cut label from the coordinating dies, and I added some gentle ink blending around the edges with a sponge dauber and Cherry Cobbler ink to help it pop against the white background.

Here’s the finished card:

Measurements:

  • Card Base: Cherry Cobbler, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm)
  • Inside Layer: Basic White, 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm)
  • Silent Snowfall DSP: 2 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ (6.7 cm x 9.6 cm)
  • Old Olive Embossed Strip: 1″ x 3 7/8″ (2.7 cm x 9.6 cm)
  • Traditions of Christmas DSP (Drapery Fold): 3″ x 6″, scored at 3 1/4″, 3 3/4″, 4 3/4″, 5 1/4″; mark at 1 1/2″ for diagonal cut (8 cm x 15.2 cm, scored at 8.5 cm, 10 cm, 12.5 cm, 13.5 cm; mark at 4 cm for diagonal cut )

To finish it off, I used Traditional Sparkle Sequins in gold to add a little shine without overwhelming the design. It’s a great card to batch-make for the holidays, and the fold adds just the right amount of “wow” without complicating the process.

Card 2: A Winter Birthday with Sass

I have a lot of December birthdays to prepare for, and sometimes I want something that’s seasonal but not Christmas. Enter the Not 29 Anymore stamp set—a snarky little gem that speaks directly to my sarcastic soul.

This second card combines the same Christmas DSP with the lighter tones of Cloud Cover and Secret Sea cardstock for a cool, wintery feel. I fussy cut some florals from the DSP (you know I don’t usually love fussy cutting, but this was worth it), layered them over a die cut Cloud Cover label, and added some red sequins to echo the bow in the paper design.

Here’s the finished birthday card:

Measurements:

  • Card Base: Cloud Cover, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm) plus a scrap for the die cut
  • Inside Layer: Basic White, 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm)
  • DSP Layer: Secret Sea design 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm) plus the flower design to fussy cut

This one came together quickly and made me laugh while I was putting it together—always a good sign. If you’ve got someone who appreciates a little birthday humor, this stamp set is going to be a favorite.
