Extraordinary Flora 3 Ways – Simple, Stepped-Up, and Stunning!

If you’ve been flipping through your Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog and breezed past pages 84–85, it’s time to go back and take another look. The Extraordinary Flora bundle is a hidden gem, and in today’s tutorial I’m showing you exactly why it deserves a spot in your craft room.

This bundle includes one large floral stamp (yes, the entire design is one single stamp!) and a coordinating die that cuts out all the images at once. Add in the coordinating Extraordinary Flora washi tape, and you’ve got endless creative possibilities. In the video below, I walk you through three card designs:

  • One simple card using just the washi tape
  • A stepped-up version with die cuts and embossing
  • And a final card with stamping, blending, sanding, and all the bells and whistles!

Card 1: Simple but Stunning

We’re starting off easy with this beauty that highlights the floral washi tape all on its own. Just peel, stick, layer it on some cardstock, and voilà — a card that looks way more involved than it actually is.

Measurements:

  • Old Olive cardbase: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scroed at 4 1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm)
  • Basic White: 2 pieces at 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm)
  • Strawberry Slush: 5″ x 3 3/4″

✨ Pro Tip: Want to save cardstock? Punch your sentiment label from the layer that will be hidden — in this case, from the basic white layer that gets covered by the strawberry slush panel. No one will ever know it’s missing, and you’ll get double use out of one piece of cardstock. Smart and resourceful? Yes, please!

We added a label with a stamped sentiment, popped it up with a couple of dimensionals, and finished with a touch of bling — because you know I had to add a little sparkle.

Card 2: Stepping It Up

In this version, I used the same washi tape — but instead of laying it directly on cardstock, I applied it to vellum and then die cut it using the coordinating die. I also embossed the background with the Gardens embossing folder from the Celebratory Sips suite (an online exclusive you need in your stash).

Measurements:

  • Strawberry Slush cardbase: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scroed at 4 1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm)
  • Basic White: 2 pieces at 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm) plus a scrap for the 2″ (5.1 cm) circle punch

Quick Tip: To make your sentiment circle pop without adding a whole new layer, try rolling the edge of the punched circle directly on your ink pad. It adds just a subtle touch of color and helps separate it from the background — no sponge or blending tool needed!

Finish the look by layering your floral die cuts however you like (there’s no wrong way!), then tuck in a few rhinestones for that perfect sparkle.

Card 3: All the Techniques

Ready for the “wow” factor? This last card brings it all together — torn edges, sanding, stamping, coloring, and layering like a pro. I used a thick basic white card base and added a piece of two-tone cardstock that we tore and embossed for a textured, rustic effect.

Measurements:

  • Thick Basic White cardstock 11″ x 4 1/4″ scored at 5 1/2″ (29.7 cm x 10.5 cm scored at 14.8 cm)
  • Basic White cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm) plus a scrap for stamping and die cutting floral images
  • Two-tone Old Olive cardstock: 4″ x 2 1/2″ (10 cm x 6.5 cm)

✨ Pro Tip: Stampin’ Up!’s two-tone cardstock has a white core — and that’s where the magic happens. After embossing the cardstock, lightly sand the embossed image with an emery board or sanding block to reveal that white core. It adds beautiful texture and contrast with minimal effort.

We stamped the large floral image using the Extraordinary Flora stamp, then colored it in with Stampin’ Blends before die cutting. Since the stamp is oversized, I recommend using a stamping platform (like the retired Stamparatus or your preferred alternative) to ensure even, solid coverage. A good stamping puck or pressure tool makes it even easier — I blinged mine out because why not?

After stamping, coloring, and die cutting, we layered the floral elements, popped some up on dimensionals, and finished with a few gems and a bow of linen thread for a final handmade touch.

Crafting with Purpose 💚

This video isn’t just about pretty cards (though they are pretty!). I’m also in the home stretch of trying to earn the Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip — an Alaskan cruise that would be a dream come true. After my husband’s stroke last year, this trip has become about more than just recognition. It’s about celebrating how far we’ve come and creating something joyful out of a hard season.
