3 Turtle-y Awesome Card Projects You’ll Love

This post might be titled “Take Two,” but the Turtle-y Awesome fun is all real. If you’ve ever recorded a whole video only to discover your camera betrayed you and filmed nothing but the void… yeah, that was me last week. 😅 So I regrouped, reset, and now I’m back with three Turtle-y terrific cards to inspire your next crafty session.

Whether you’re a beginner stamper, a seasoned scrapbooker, or someone in between, these designs are easy, fun, and adaptable for birthdays, friendship, or “just because” mail.

🐢 Card 1: Simple Stamping with Strips of DSP

This first design is ideal for beginners or anyone drowning in a sea of scrap paper (guilty as charged 🙋‍♀️). I used three ¾” strips of the Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper, tore the edges for some soft texture, added a sentiment in Shaded Spruce, and finished with linen thread and a trio of green hexagon gems for that pop of sparkle.

This card is all about that less-is-more energy, and honestly? It’s a great way to dip your toe into cardmaking without getting overwhelmed. This layout was inspired by a project we did during Stampin’ Up!’s Creativity Now event (shout out to the Peaceful Garden suite!).

Measurements for Card 1

• Basic White Thick 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5 cm)
• Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper 3 pieces (different patterns) 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ (2 cm x 9 cm)
• Linen Thread 2 pieces at approximately 10″ (25.5 cm)

🐢 Card 2: One Sheet Wonder – Matching Card & Envelope

Up next: a coordinated card-and-envelope combo using just one 12×12 sheet of DSP. This layout was also inspired by a project we did during Stampin’ Up!’s Creativity Now event. The finished look is polished, yet it’s super efficient to put together.

We use one piece for the card base with a flap front, and another for the envelope—scored, folded, and custom-fit for that handmade hug inside. The turtle gets dressed up in a little chef’s hat and apron and serves up birthday cake like a champ. Bonus points for the embossed soft sea foam background that ties the whole thing together.

• Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper card base 4″ x 12 ” (10.5 cm x 30.5 cm)
• Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper envelope 6 3/4″ x 9 1/4″ (17.2 cm x 23.5 cm)
• Basic White for the inside 3 1/2″ x 5″ (9 cm x 12.8 cm) plus scraps for the turtle, cake and chef’s hat die cuts
• Soft Seafoam 3″ x 4″ (8 cm x 10 cm)
• Pool Party scrap for Modern Oval punch
• Cherry Cobbler scrap for apron die cut

🐢 Card 3: Fancy Fun Fold with Balloon Accents

The final card is a fun fold that looks complicated but totally isn’t. It’s all about a few clever cuts and scores that give your card some serious “wow” factor. The inside has space to write a message (or stamp a greeting), and the front is decorated with some festive faux-balloon die cuts and a “Hooray” sentiment that’s fussy cut (which, let’s be honest, is not my spiritual gift—but I tried 😂).

This design is perfect when you want to level up your cardmaking game without needing a degree in paper engineering.

Measurements for Card 3

• Flirty Flamingo 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (21 cm x 14.8 cm)
  • Score at 2 1/8″ & 6 3/8″ (5.2 cm & 15.7 cm) then cut between the score lines 1 1/4″ (3.3 cm) from outer edge on each side
  • Score at 4 1/4″ (10.5 cm) from outer edge to cut line on each side
  • Score at 3 3/16″ & 5 5/16″ (7.8 cm & 13.1 cm) between cut lines
• Granny Apple Green 2 pieces at 5 1/4″ x 1 7/8″ (14.3 cm x 4.8 cm)
• Basic White 2 pieces at 5 1/4″ x 1 7/8″ (14.3 cm x 4.8 cm); 1 piece at 1 7/8″ x 2 3/4″ (4.8 cm x 7.7) plus a scrap for sentiment
• Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper 4 pieces at 1″ x 1 7/8″ (2.8 cm x 4.8 cm) & 2 pieces at 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ (2 cm x 7.7 cm)
• Scraps of colored cardstock (your choice of color) for die cut balloons
• Linen Thread approximately 8″ – 10″ (20 cm – 25 cm)
