Decorative Masks are Great to Create Unique Backgrounds

No Designer Series Paper? No Problem!

One of the things I love most about Stampin’ Up! is the color coordination. Knowing the what colors are in a Designer Series Paper makes it so easy to pick my cardstock, ribbon, and embellishments. Plus Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper is just so pretty!

But what happens when there is no Designer Series Paper that coordinates with your stamp set? Or what if you (gasp) don’t like the coordinating Designer Series Paper? Well you just make your own! Yes you can actually make your own “Designer Series Paper”. It wasn’t too long ago that Stampin’ Up! didn’t sell Designer Series Paper so we had to make our own pretty backgrounds!

Decorative Masks to the Rescue

So now your wondering how to make your own Designer Series Paper. Well one way would be to use your stamps and inks to create unique backgrounds. But the easiest way is to use our Decorative Masks. Stampin’ Up! currently has three sets of decorative masks – two in the annual catalog (Artistic Mix (Item #159178 – $10) and Foursquare (Item #161285 – $10)) and one in the September – December Mini (Abundant Beauty (Item #162331 – $10.50)).

Last week during my Lesson@Lunch I used the four part Sunflower masks from the Abundant Beauty set to create a card. This week I used the houndstooth pattern mask from that set to create the background for this week’s card. Here’s what I created. What do you think?

This week during my Lesson@Lunch video posted on my Crafty Klock YouTube Channel I did a quick tutorial on how to use the decorative masks to create easy backgrounds for your focal image. You can check it out here (and I would be most appreciative if you would subscribe to my channel!)

Here’s a list of what I used during this tutorial. You can order all these items from my online Stampin’ Up! store. Click here to shop.
