Painterly Pears – 3 Amazing Fun Folds you will love

This week’s tutorial is all about fun folds—specifically three fabulous designs made using the Painterly Pears Suite Collection, an online exclusive that just launched on July 1st. Whether you’re sending a thank you, congratulations, or just a sweet hello, these cards are designed to impress (without the stress)!

In today’s video, I walk you through how to create three unique fun folds:

1. Double Point Fun Fold

This eye-catching design features a top-and-bottom point that opens to reveal a surprise inside. It’s built from one 4″ x 6″ sheet of Designer Series Paper, scored at 1″ from each end before cutting—this keeps your pattern flowing beautifully.

🧵 I added Mossy Meadow & Gold shimmer ribbon to tie it all together—literally!
🎨 The pear focal image was stamped in Old Olive and Darling Daffodil, with a little Petal Pink dabbed on for that ripe, blushed look.

📏 Measurements & Instructions:

• Secret Sea cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ (14.8 cm x 10 cm)
• Basic White cardstock 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm) plus scraps for pear, leaves, and sentiment die cuts
• Cloud Cover cardstock scrap for Everyday Arches die
• Petal Pink cardstock scraps for die cut flowers (back the scrap with an adhesive sheet)
• Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper 2 pieces at 4″ x 3″ (10 cm x 8 cm)

2. Envelope Fun Fold

This one is a showstopper! It mimics the look of an envelope flap on the card front and tucks closed behind a die-cut element—functional and fancy.

🧡 I used Darling Daffodil cardstock, the Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder, and a sweet trio of low profile sparkle dots to dress it up.
✨ Bonus: the flap is made from a 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” DSP square folded diagonally. Genius and so easy.

📏 Measurements & Instructions:

• Cloud Cover cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ (14.8 cm x 10.5 cm)
• Darling Duckling cardstock 8 ” x 5 1/4″ scored at 4″ (20.5 cm x 14.3 cm scored at 10.2 cm)
• Basic White cardstock 5″ x 3 3/4″ (13.8 cm x 9.5 cm) plus scrapes for the pears, flowers, and sentiment die cuts
• Darling Duckling 2 tone cardstock 5″ x 3 3/4″ (13.8 cm x 9.5 cm)

3. Joy Fold Card (aka Flip Flap!)

This layered fold opens not once but twice, creating extra space for your message and a bigger “wow” moment. It uses just one 4″ x 12″ strip of DSP, cut into three pieces—super efficient and super stunning!

💚 I mixed patterns from the Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper and used those lovely detailed die cuts to finish it off.
💬 The sentiment? A heartfelt “Thank You” popped up with dimensionals for extra texture.

📏 Measurements & Instructions:

• Petal Pink cardstock 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ scored at 3″ (21 cm x 10.5 cm scored at 6.2 cm)
• Petal Pink cardstock 8″ x 3″ scored at 4″ (20 cm x 8 cm scored at 10 cm)
• Basic White cardstock 3 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ (9.5 cm x 7.5 cm) plus scraps for pear, leaf, and sentiment die cuts
• Darling Ducking scrap for die cut
• Petal Pink scrap for die cut flowers
• Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper (if you are using a 1 way design, you need to cut the paper so the design is horizontal (landscape)) cut 1 12″ x 4″ (30.5 cm x 10 cm) strip of paper. From that strip cut:
  • 1 piece at 5 1/4″ x 4″ (14.3 cm x 10 cm)
  • 1 piece at 2 3/4″ x 4″ (7.5 cm x 10 cm)
  • 1 piece at 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ (7.5 cm x 9.5 cm)
