3 Color Combos Made Easy With This Magic Tool

Hello Crafty Friends! I am so excited to share this week’s YouTube demo with you. Why? Because not only did I create three adorable cards using the Resourceful Rusty stamp set, but I also introduced a brand-new tool I built just for you: the Crafty Color Combo Magic Tool!

This tool is like your personal color wizard for Stampin’ Up! projects. Whether you’re a beginner stamper, an intermediate crafter, or a seasoned paper-crafting pro, we all have moments when we get stuck staring at our ink pads thinking, “Now what?” The Crafty Color Combo Magic Tool is here to rescue you from that creative rut.

What Is the Crafty Color Combo Magic Tool?

It’s an AI-powered color combo assistant trained to know all current Stampin’ Up! colors and Designer Series Papers. You tell it what kind of project you’re working on (“a floral birthday card” or “a masculine anniversary card”) and your skill level, and it will give you:

  • One soft/subtle color combo
  • One bold/bright combo
  • One elegant/neutral combo

It doesn’t stop there. Ask it for a fourth color to enhance your palette. Need a layout suggestion or tips for layering? Just ask! The tool is designed to guide you creatively, save time, and give you fresh inspiration when you need it most.

Let’s Talk Cards!

For this demo, I asked the tool to give me color combos that would work with the Resourceful Rusty stamp set—a quirky little critter who’s somewhere between a fox, a red panda, and a raccoon (we love a mystery mammal, don’t we?). Here are the combos it gave me and how I used them:

1. Bold & Adventurous:

Colors: Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, Garden Green

I used Night of Navy for the card base, layered on Pumpkin Pie, and used Garden Green sparingly to color in the leaves on the apples. The result? A playful, energetic card with striking contrast. Blue and orange are complementary, so you know this one POPS.

2. Soft & Weathered:

Colors: Gray Granite, Soft Sea Foam, Misty Moonlight

This combo gave us gentle vibes perfect for a card that needs a little extra warmth and calm. The Misty Moonlight layer anchors the design while the Soft Sea Foam and Gray Granite keep it fresh and airy. I even splattered a bit of color on the sentiment strip for a dreamy effect.

3. Deep & Earthy:

Colors: Early Espresso, Old Olive, Crumb Cake

This was my favorite combo! The embossed Crumb Cake background paired with the Old Olive DSP and circles for the focal point and sentiment created depth and interest. Resourceful Rusty steals the show in warm browns, and the Old Olive sentiment ties it all together.

Each of these cards was built around the combos the tool generated. Honestly, some of these color pairings I would never have thought to try on my own, but the results were gorgeous. It’s time to get crafty, friends—and let the Magic Tool take the guesswork out of it!
