You’ll love the easy yet impressive IMPOSSIBLE CARD!

I’ve always been crafty. As a youngster I loved to color; as a I grew older I tried my hand at different crafts – knitting, sewing, crocheting, photography, cake decorating, painting. You name it and I’ve probably at least tried it once! Some I’ve liked more than others and some were just not my strong suit – knitting – not for me – can’t coordinate two needles at once; quilting – meh too much detail work. But creativity fills my soul and I love to try new things.

About 20 years ago I got introduced to Stampin’ Up! I loved the pretty stamps, ink, and paper and I was hooked. I loved this new hobby – it fed my creative side in a fun, new way. Now, life has a way of getting in the way and as a mom of two young children with a full time job outside the home, the opportunity to spend precious time and money on my “hobby” was limited. I never gave it up exactly but I did put it on the back burner for a few decades.

So fast forward to today and I’m an (almost) empty nester with time and money to finally spend on me! So when the opportunity to join Stampin’ Up! was presented and jumped in and signed up. I absolutely LOVE creating with my stamps, ink, and paper. It feeds my creative soul and it give me such joy to turn a simple piece of paper into a work of art. Best of all, I get to share my passion with all of you! So today I want to share my take on the “Impossible Card”. I’m not really sure why it’s called that but my guess is the way you cut and fold the card seems impossible to do!

Impossible Card

The card is actually quite easy to make – just a few score lines and some snips with your scissor, a flip of the paper and Viola – the Impossible Card. You’ll love this sneak peek at the new Curvy Celebrations!

I don’t know about you, but growing up birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and just about any special occasion was a big deal. These events would bring the whole family together to celebrate and they were always filled with lots of laughter, good food, and above all love! My mom always went out of her way to make these celebrations special. I know I get my love of creating special gifts and cards for my family and friends from her.

I don’t know why but the new Quite Curvy Bundle just reminds me of my mom and all the special times we had together. Maybe it’s because the curvy dies make me think of how she loved to sew and could create beautiful clothes for the children and grandchildren in the blink of an eye (and lots of late nights). It might be because of the whimsical trees in the Curvy Christmas stamp set but most likely it’s because she really was “One in a Million” as the sentiment from the Quite Curvy stamp set says. No matter the reason, this bundle just brings joy to my heart and so many fond memories of celebrations with my Mom. Take a look and I’m sure you will find it makes you smile too.

The card on the right is a great example of #simplestamping – just stamps ink and paper. Card base is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. Layers get consecutively 1/4″ smaller – so Designer Series paper is 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the top layer is 5″ x 3 3/4″. Measurements are the same for the pink birthday card with the exception of the top white layer, which is the same width as the green layer it sits on but only 3 1/4″ high before being cut with the curvy dies.

Add a POP of color with the stunning Poinsettia Place Suite

When I first saw the August to December Mini Catalog I was drawn to the beautiful Poinsettia Place Suite of products. It was a love/hate relationship – I loved the the products but hated the number of dies included. The number of dies was the deciding factor in my decision to skip over this suite in favor of simpler bundles and suites. But like a moth to a flame I kept coming back to it. After seeing so many beautiful projects created with this suite I FINALLY broke down and ordered it.

When it arrived I pulled it out of the box and immediately started to play with it. Let just say it was LOVE at first use! The poinsettia flowers go together so easily and you can create flowers of varying sizes . I was kicking myself for waiting so long to get this little gem.

Create Beautiful Cards for the Special Men in Your Life

The other day I was texting with a good friend I haven’t seen in a while because, you know – COVID-19. Anyway we were catching up and I asked if she needed to replenish her stash of note cards because I literally have hundreds since I haven’t done any craft fairs this year, because you know – COVID-19.

She sent me a picture of what she was working on – creating cards with Stampin’ Up!’s Lots of Happy Kit which has beautiful floral images. In the course of the conversation she mentioned her son said she needed more masculine cards. I don’t know about you but I struggle trying to come up with cards suitable for guys. So I took the comment to heart and challenged myself to try and create some masculine birthday cards.

Turing to my stash of Stampin’ Up! stamps I selected the beautiful and versatile Mountain Air Bundle. As soon as I saw this set in the catalog I knew I had to have it. I’ve always loved mountains and will pick them over a beach vacation every time.

I love that the stamps are reversible, with a detailed side as well as a flat, smooth side giving you so many options for creating beautiful scenes. I featured this set during my weekly Facebook Live and now have the tutorial uploaded to my YouTube Channel. You can watch the video here. Here are the cards I created. I sent the photos to my friend and her son gave them his stamp of approval as birthday cards suitable for guys.

The Rich Razzleberry card on the left was a CASE from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. The card base is 8.5″ x 5.5″ scored at 4.35″. The images are stamped on a 4″ x 5.25″ of Rich Razzleberry in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I masked the small trees and stamped the moon in Versamark and heat embossed with White Embossing powder. I sponged Night of Navy and Rich Razzleberry to give it more of a twilight/night feel. A Crumb Cake banner .75″ x 2.25″ with the Happy Birthday stamped in Rich Razzleberry and two trees die cut in Basic Black complete the card.

The Pool Party card on the right has a card base of 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″. The images are stamped on a 4″ x 5.25″ of Whisper White. The techniques used include second generation stamping, and stamping off. For the mountains, I inked the stamp with Soft Suede and stamped the image twice without re-inking. For the solid clouds, after inking the stamp on the flat (smooth) side, I first stamped the image on a piece of scrap paper and then stamped it on the Whisper White, creating a softer image. I then reversed the stamp and stamped the lined cloud image with full strength Pool Party Ink. You can watch my YouTube Video for complete details on how to make these cards. You’ll love the classic beauty of Celebrate Sunflowers

When I was younger I didn’t much care for sunflowers – I just thought they were an ugly flower. However, as I’ve grown older (and hopefully wiser), I’ve come to appreciate the simple beauty of sunflowers. To me the are a symbol of joy; with their vibrant yellow petals and lush chocolatey center they bring a smile to me whenever I see them.

Stampin’ Up! has captured the simple beauty of sunflowers in their new Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set. The large sunflower image contains rich details that show so well in a variety of ink colors. The image is beautiful just stamped with ink or stamped and colored with any of our coloring tools (watercolor pencils, Stampin’ Write Makers, Stampin’ Blends).

You can watch my tutorial on YouTube channel (thanks for subscribing!) where I show you how easy it is to make the cards below. I’m also featuring this stamp set for my October Class to go. You can get all the details from my Facebook Event page

These cards were so simple to make using just a few supplies. Both cards are 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″. The Misty Moonlight card just has three (partial) sunflowers stamped with Misty Moonlight in on a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. A .75″ x 3.74″ banner cut from Bumblebee card stock (ends punched with Lovely Labels Pick a Punch) with sentiment stamped in Bumblebee ink completes the card design. The Bumblebee card features a 3.5″ x 5″ layer of Soft Suede topped by a 3.25″ x 4.75″ layer of Whisper White. Add Bumblebee ribbon to both layers prior to attaching them to the card front for an elegantly simple card. The “Hello” sentiment is from the new Life is Beautiful stamp set.
