(Pink) Inspiration is all around!
As a crafter I like to look for inspiration all around me. Sometimes it’s the colors I see in nature or a pattern that inspires me. Sometimes I like to use common household items in new ways to create unique cards and sometimes inspiration can come from pop culture!
Growing up I loved to play with my Barbies – so much fun to dress her up and make up exciting stories about what she was doing and where she was going. Over the years, Barbie has been everything – accountant, doctor, even President! And let’s not forget about her faboulous dream house with the elevator, her cars, camper, airplane, and so much more!
With the release of the Barbie movie I wanted to create a card as a tribute to the beloved classic doll. And while Barbie may have been everything and had everything I don’t know if she ever had a pink pick up truck (she probably did I mean she literally had EVERYTHING). Whether she did or she didn’t I decided to create a pink themed card using the Trucking Along Stamp Set to honor this beloved toy of my youth. Check it out.

When is a card not a card?
So when is a card not a card? When it’s also a gift! Stampin’ Up! just introduced the Take Your Pick Crafter Tips – a set of three new tips for the Take Your Pick tool. The set includes a hobby blade for precision cutting, a double-ended pick tip for piercing or removing pieces from intricate die cuts, and a rotary perforating tip for cutting perforated patterns.
It’s the rotary perforating tip that intrigued me the most. I wondered if I could design a card that had a preforated section that could be removed and used for something else – like a book mark! Well once I challenged myself I knew I had to do it so I made the card below. What do you think?
Video Tutorial & Supplies
You can watch the replay of my video tutorial on my Crafty Klock YouTube Channel.
Both cards are standard A2 cards. The “Hidden” Gift card starts out at 5 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ with a score line at 4 1/4″ and a perforated line at 8 1/2″.
I used the Trucking Along Bundle to make both cards and used the Two Tone Flora stamp set to create the flowers for the book mark. The Truck Along Builder punch is currently out of stock but you can still purchase the Trucking Along stamp set and fussy cut the truck image as needed.
You can purchase all these products (and more) from my online Stampin’ Up! Store. Just click on the button below to get a shopping cart filled with all the products. You can edit the cart to add or delete products as needed.
